2021 was.. well... an eventful year where I experienced many new adventures and shot a lot of film over the winter holidays ~ Currently at Roll 18 of film shot since I first started my film journey - We sent over 4 rolls of film to @handsonfilm on 30th of Dec, and received our photos on 1st Jan (once again thanks Daniel for the speedy and high quality developing !)
This will probably be one of the longest articles so far as there'll be 4 rolls:
1) KIRO 400 (shot on my Olympus Mju Zoom)
2) Kodak Gold 200 (shot on my Olympus Mju Zoom)
3) IRO 400(shot on my Canon AE1 by Conrad)
4) Colourplus 200 (shot on Conrad's Minolta Riva Zoom Sightseer)
There will also be a special collage at the end (taken with digital) of a film workshop conducted by NUS Photographic Society!
Hope you enjoy this post and have a happy 2022 ahead!
First up: The Kiro roll. This is probably my favourite shot - really like how the red colour turned out - also didn't plan for a KIRO shoot but I had time to spare before taking the booster shot, and wandered around Clementi carpark for a bit. Bought the KIRO 400 and IRO 400 back in 2019 from 8storeytree, and finally put them into use this holidays. Each roll contained 27 exposures, and the canisters are realllllly pretty!
Side track: This is how the KIRO canister looks like!
Went to the Ice Cream Museum with Chewy and took a total of 2 shots with film - it was a really nice experience but a tad bit expensive for the entry prices ~
Weekend walks with Dad, and Aaron joined since he is back in SG for these 2 months. Also reshot some of the christmas lights at Orchard ~
Overall comments on the KIRO: pretty expensive (currently sold at 16 bux) compared to the usual Kodak Gold/Colourplus, and only comes with 27 exposures instead of 26. However, the colours are unique and I would purchase it again in the future to play around with.
Moving on to the Kodak Gold - shot this at a shop near Bugis while on the way to Honey Moon Dessert (their mochi Mango dessert is so nice :D )
Shot these while exploring Decathlon @ Kallang - been wanting to shoot these buildings hoho
Dec Highlights: Had a picnic at Marina Barrage with the NUSSU gang gang, night walk at Jurong Lake Gardens, Cow Play Cow Moo @ Suntec City, tried Huggs Coffee, and explored the Christmas Market (which was where I got introduced to @handsonfilm)
These photos were taken with Conrad's Minolta Riva Zoom Sightseer, with Colourplus 200 ~ We visited a watertank and also tried coffee from Pyroast @ Science Park
Quite a couple of photos turned out underexposed/with streaks, possibly hinting that my Canon AE1 needs some repair, or that the film roll wasn't wound tightly enough. #sad
This was my first experience developing film, and tbh its pretty scary doing the wrong things in case the photo doesn't turn out well... Conrad tried his hand at unwinding the film from the canister in the dark, and we spent about 2 hours developing the photos. As this was a workshop held by NUS PS, we were able to take home a print on photographic paper :) We are still awaiting the scanned photos by Benjamin, who is probably swamped with the number of sign ups for the workshop xd
Aaaand that's all for 2021! Cheers :)
