Reto is a 35mm film camera with a built in flash. It shoots at 30mm ; f10 ; 1/125s. Its triple lenses allows it to create a 3D-like image, in which 3 half frames are captured in a single shot. Do note that the videos may take a few seconds to load on mobile.
Although Reto is dubbed as a sports film camera, I personally find the 1/125 shutter speed too slow, which may result in unintended blurriness. The combination of f10 and 1/125 also results in underexposure in many situations, if the flash is not turned on. This camera is more suited for flash photography, unless used under direct sunlight. It appears to be more suited for close-ups to achieve sharp images.
For the price of about 100 sgd, this camera serves as a fun, light and stylish camera that can be taken out for events and parties.
Do note that since the photos have to be individually developed as half frames, it costs more than a normal roll of 36 exposures ( developed as 72 half frames instead). I developed a roll at Fotohub for about 20 sgd.
These are how the photos look individually, as half frames. With every shot, the 3 cameras are utilised to occupy 1.5 frames, thus, a normal roll of 36 exposures can only shoot 24. These photos are then stitched together with the Reto App on the phone. So far, there is only a limited number of designs on the app, and I am hoping that they release more in the future. The company's ig is @reto.project, and they were originally a kickstarter project.
